washington capitals hat trick display
EXHIBIT DESIGN
When a hockey player scores a hat trick, tradition dictates fans toss their hats onto the ice in celebration. The Washington Capitals collect these hats and feature them prominently in large, custom-built display located on the main concourse of Capital One Arena. With a spacious interior cavity, fans can view the hats either through a logo-shaped acrylic window on the front or a full-length side window, and watch them accumulate over time. A series of secure doors on the back allow hats to be added and arranged for optimal viewing. Atop the display is a backlit header to grab fans’ attention. Finally, a plaque on the center column next to the display keeps a record of each hat trick was scored.
